After 2 years of trying I finally passed my exams for high school, but for the second time I again failed at getting admitted to a dance education. This broke my heart. I danced 6 days a week, went to school 3 days a week and worked 2 to 3 days a week. Dancing was my future dream. I had no plan B, school was finished and I had no idea what to do with myself. So I decided to travel alone to spain! No more responsibility from everyone around me, just my camera, my diary and I. I decided to start in Barcelona, I booked a hostel close to the La Rambla. I booked a bed in a room with a total of 10 beds. And by surprise I quickly made friends! I did a lot of sight seeing! Mostly I walked around eventhough the underground has a good connection, next to that I went swimming, had breakfast/lunch/dinner and went to museums with the people from my hostel. I love Barcelona so much, on my 4th day I decided to go to tibidabo, a mountain in Barcelona with a fair all the way on top. You can see the city, the beaches, the cathedrals and even the cruise ships coming in. I watch the sunset and with a warm feeling in my heart I had some dinner with my friends. The day I had to leave, I was heartbroken. The art, the beaches, the culture, everything in this city made me feel like I found my place. After a 8 hour bus ride, I arrived in San Sebastian. My friend lives there and asked me to come and visit him! San Sebastian is known for it's food, the harbour and the (surf) beaches. It's a beautiful city, but the cost of hostels/hotels are quite expensive. Luckily I was able to stay at my friend's house. It was beautiful, most of the time we were either swimming or eating. Watching the sunset with the best ice cream I ever had! What a feeling! The hospitality there was absolutely amazing! For my third stop I travelled 6 hours with the bus to a little town called Zamora. I went there to see my tías (aunts) and tíos (uncles). The town has a beautiful old castle, good food and lovely small shopping area. But the most important thing for me was spending time with my family. I was finally able to see them again after 5 years! Leaving them was very hard, my 1.5 hours in the train to madrid got me thinking a lot, about the people I met, the things I saw and the warm feeling I had insight of me. I stayed in a hostel in madrid, 'hostel chueca' on Calle de Hortaleza. I would really recommend this hostel or area for anyone traveling! Restaurants all around the area and it's very safe at night. In my first day something unexpected happend, I was walking on a very busy street heading over to a marked and I thought I saw someone I met in Barcelona.. I texted him and asked, and never did I expect to get a message back saying it was him! We met that evening with some other people we met throughout the day. We watched the sunset on the rooftop, watching over the city. The next day we went with a whole group to Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. At a certain time, you can get in for free. It's beautiful and you can see different art! I would recommend it! I had to leave earlier because I was going to have lunch with my cousin! From sunsets at Temple de debod, walking for hours in parque de buen retiro, having drinks with friends and visiting museums. Madrid is beautiful! Being alone is a challenge sometimes, but my heart was filled with a warmth I couldn't explain. Going home after such a trip is very hard, but I am so thankful for everything that I have seen and everyone I have met. Never expected that in 3 weeks I would come back as a whole different me, stronger and happier.
