My name is Franklin Mangruem jr all my life I have been surrounded by urban adversity .. this adversity took a majority of my childhood away and all of my teens. The first quarter of my adult life was spent cleaning up the end years of my teens. These adversity's even forced me to over think things and end up incarcerated most of those years.. it wasn't until five years ago sitting in that cell that that I decided enough was enough. I was going to end this cycle of urban adversity an remove my self from the slum . Only thing that constantly ran threw my mind was in order to change the mistakes of the past and start new you had to cut off all people, places, and things that meant no good to your Life. Upon release I didn't have any thing to my name but my sharp mind. I instantly got a job telling my self the first piece of money I make I was taking a trip. It wasnt long before I did and first trip I jumped & didn't plan I went to Iowa to see my mother... While out there I got to meet new people and I even got a job to where I had a oppertunity to stack some more dollars up to continue my trip... Where I really wanted to go was too Atlanta to further my music career... Before long, I traveled from Iowa to Atlanta Georgia... Georgia was one of the most beautiful place I seen in the world. What made it Beautiful was the energy that was in the atmospere. every body was grinding towards going some where in life and this inspired me . You had some young people shooting music videos, some making music, some staring in,or shooting movies, some going to college, everybody just hustling to better their situation in a positive way comming from their adversity's and this inspired me so much. Hadn't really understood southern hospitality as this is foreign in the Midwest since everything so fast. From the first time I stepped inside a southern waffle House I knew from the energy that I was in a different world. Where we usually had to pay first before we eat back home here in dorville ( a small town outside of atl where I caught the underground subway to from Atlanta) you simply had to order. Money wasn't even brought up one time until after I finished my meal which was absolutely amazing might I add . I simply ordered breakfast food, and chicken which is cooked for breakfast in the south. After I finished eating I headed back to Atlanta for a little enjoyment of the night life and wasn't expecting the amazing energy I was about to feel. The landscaping in Atlanta is beautiful as it is constantly under construction of rebuilding itself up bigger. Someone once told me that Atlanta was over populated. I never once felt like that even though I was around a million people walking to my destination. I just felt like everyone was set out to get a little fullfillment out of the beautiful city everyone labeled as the "new black mecca". I absolutely got that feeling of "Black Royalty"with some of the Atlanta naitives who dressed so emaculant compared the urban street wear we were used to in the city. Also in the city of Atlanta the people were just much more nicer compared to the people of the inner cities where i was raised. As I'm walking to the club with my Entourage this preacher pulls up on us with his Entourage and offers us a home cooked meal in which he and his wife cooked. We accepted and him and his Entourage began blessing the streets . All the preacher wanted in return was that I say a prayer with him . didn't take too much thinking. I quickly learned that if you didn't get anything out of Atlanta a home cooked meal, and a fine women were two things that you didn't have to go out your way to find . There's so much going on downtown Atlanta with amazing energy that we never made it to magic city that night
