What do we know about Malta? I had known nothing when I decided to visit that place and then bought the tickets for flights and was given the visa. First time when I tried to find it on a map I was shocked. I could notice only a little dot on the map. I live in a big county and have never been in such place which is so small. Nevertheless, I supposed it would be a good experiment in my life for studying English and exploring this island with surrounding air. My first impression about Malta was white and light. We arrived (I and my friend) after midnight so what we could see moving to our location. There were a lot of white or bright beige houses which were lit up. It made me a bit happier after long jetlag. Anyway, we woke up around midday and started to experience a neighborhood. We went far and wide our district than day. In the end of the day we were asked by our neighbors why we didn’t lose in that place. We just laughed at and answered that there were no difficulties for us. Who had known what would happen later? Had been living there fair enough we decided to come back from the capital of that city by foot. It was just about three or four o’clock and we forgot about time. Our company (3 people) was going not in common places but far where it wasn’t so many people to feel the atmosphere of Malta. We were going through quite narrow alleys which were paved by white stones. May be it was built four or five hundred years ago. You could see all these different two-story houses with stone fence and some specific constructions in a corner under the roof. As I would be explained later that it had been made for protection against evil spirits. It looked amazingly when the sun was still shining, but as soon as it was getting dark your feelings changed. We were going father and father away from the city center and suddenly we found the sun went down and everything was darkness. Trying to be close to each other we were continued to go on were following by our smart phone in the hope of meeting any citizens. We were going straight by pavement out steps echoed in the evening. Our decision was to continue moving, not tern bark as we hadn’t known how far we were. We kept walking so far our phone was working. We crossed a bridge and saw a backlit with dim light road and moved there. Our happiness wasn’t so long; it was dark again with a little light ahead. We didn’t lose faith and went straight there. When we achieved it what we could see was a wall with little windows and an entrance door in the middle of it and a roof with a bell. So we decided it was a church. There was a lantern under the door which we had seen. We stopped to talk what we should do next. The smart phone showed us a way through it but after that wall we couldn’t see anything. It was dark as if you were standing in the closed room without windows and any light. It was a stuck we didn’t know what to do. I only said that after that trip through the dark I would become white-haired crazy lady. All these sounds and not knowing the right way mad me anxious. Suddenly, my fried said that the phone died. For the first moment I thought it had been a joke, but then I realized it was the unfortunate truth. So, we had no choice except kept going by the road which we could see. Suddenly, we heard some voices somewhere and started moving faster and faster focusing on these sounds. Just imagine, the faces of these people who saw us running to them. However, we asked them about right direction. Being a bit shocked they showed us the right way and added that our hotel was enough far from here. Finally, we reached the hotel being tied but happy.
