Ghost patrol

A leap into the unknown Ghana

It was a windy Wednesday morning. The sun decided to hide behind the clouds for most part of the morning. It looked like it could rain. I felt tired from walking around and interacting with people in the earlier parts of the morning. I picked a book and decided to learn for my paper in the afternoon. Three different topics to read on before 1:00. This program is very challenging. I closed my eyes to rest for a while while lying in the couch. I felt at peace. It wasn’t long before it began to rain. I was lost in my thoughts and not long after plunged into darkness, accompanied by my thoughts which I was trying to escape from through sleep. I had two dreams that night without waking up. I think I didn’t bother waking up because what could probably be worse than what I was going to wake up to. I needed an escape from reality. In my first dream I was on a deserted land. The land was undulating, however I could see a far distance off from where I was. The atmosphere was red, no more like maroon and there was no sun nor moon. The earth was dry and sandy. A woman who wasn’t appealing to the eye was approaching me. She was very dark with round eyes. She wore a red garment around herself like a sari. She looked like she had been sad for most of her life and it had affected her natural look. She approached me and started talking to me. I got confused like what happens with all girls and shook my head out of impulse. She continued walking. I saw her look back while going. I turned to my side and looked further and saw what looked like three beings. The one in the middle holding a book, he looked like he was awarding marks. He was dressed in a pure white attire with a the handle over his right shoulder like that of Greek gods in popular kids cartoons. He shook his head while jotting something down. The lady looked more sad than before. Like she had just lost something. I didn’t even feel sad for her. That’s when I opened my eyes. I woke up in a bed, in one of those bedrooms we see in the movies. One bed in the middle of the room. Curtains to my left closed with a parting big enough for me to see the moon and a few buildings, a poster of Barney on the wall and more stickers. It was dark but I still noticed toys on the floor, a doormat and other dresses. It was too comfortable to be true. It was too beautiful to be true. And of course it wasn’t. It was a false awakening.
