A leap into the unknown Botswana

I am an avid traveler that’s why I call myself a global citizen. Traveling just brings excitement and joy, I feel alive and enlightened to explore new places, different cultures and to interact with different people. Coming from Africa and born in a landlocked country: Botswana I’ve always been curious to find out how other people live, and what the world put there looks like. Unfortunately I was born from a poor family, raised by a single mother who could not even afford to take us on family vacation because she had to work so hard just to put food on the table. So the only way I could travel the world was to study hard so I could win scholarships to travel around the world. I remember the first time I got outside the country, I won a student exchange scholarship program to go for summer school at the University of Pennsylvania in the USA. It was a surreal experience, it was my first time for most things; first time to fly out of the country, first time on a plane, first time abroad, first time I saw the ocean, that’s when I fell in love with traveling. I felt happy, free and the experience alone taught me a lot of things including culture shock. From then onwards I never looked back, every year I look foward to traveling to a new country. I still apply for scholarships because I can’t really afford to travel around the world. So far I’ve been to London, Netherlands; The Hague because I wanted to see the criminal court Justice, I’ve also been to Rotterdam and in Africa I’ve been to all Southern African countries; Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Swaziland and Lesotho. I’ve also been to Kenya. This year I look forward to visiting Rwanda and I hope I’ll win this trip because it’ll be my first time ever to the Caribbean Islands.
