Are not we all crazy travel planners, especially when it comes to vacationing with our loved ones. We plan each aspect such that nothing goes wrong. And so had I planned this trip of ours to Udaipur, back in college. From the stay to the itinerary, our days were such that we could cover the entire city and the nearby places in this short span of our 3 days trip. On the day 2, we had to finish the day the trip by witnessing the sunset from the most renowned sunset point located in the premises of a palace. We drove up the hill on which 'The Monsoon Palace' sat luxuriously and witnessed the most fulfilling and peaceful sunset of our lives. The place was crowded as it was a Sunday but the sunset made it worth the while. But the real adventure was yet to begin. It was dark by the time we reached down, it was late for a typical winter evening. Here, rather than heading back to our hotel and crash in beds after the long day, we decided to go on the road less taken. As we started moving in the direction we gradually lost our mobile signals. And then came a point when the maps had given up, and to our surprise all the electricity poles on that road were broken, and were falling in the same direction. This was the time we felt something was spooky. But one of our friends wanted to try on the adventure so we kept moving. The inner we moved, the more scary it kept getting with nothing but a road leading into darkness. And then happened the most unexpected. We witnessed a source of light faintly lit far away from us. As we drove towards it, the falling temperature indicated we were nearby a water body. And to our surprise, when we reached there, we saw the most soothing view of our lives. There were mountains that became visible gradually, just in silhouettes, a lake, a lighthouse and a sky full of dazzling stars. And the stars were brighter than ever, apparently because of the fog. We all felt ecstatic and after staying for quite some time there, we drove ahead and this place actually turned out very close to the main road on the other end. It was only after getting back that we got to know that we had gotten into the Sajjangarh forest, where most adventurous of people go for treks. All and all, this turned out to be one of the most nerve wrecking experiences and rewarding at the same time. In retrospect, I feel I would never have been able to experience such a peaceful moment with such serenity had I not gone on the road leas traveled or had gotten back mod way. I have become a believer of taking the road less taken and you never know what nature has in store for me. And for you...
