Title : I didn’t expect to find Do you believe that traveling can get people out of unconfident, stress. Moreover traveling can change a person to the better way, it taught you how to give, how to be kind and generous to others and also you can make good friendship with strangers without expectation. I want to share my true story. It was my first solo travel (sounds exciting right?). at that time I was so depressed about my thesis, I couldn’t get it out of my mind and was unhappy. I know how hard it destroyed my mental health, I have to do something to get better, I should go somewhere. After did some research how to get that place. I decided preparing my backpack and told myself “I’m ready to jump out of my comfort zone and experience new thing” my destination was Vangvieng, Laos (my country) where backpackers from all over the world should come. It took me 2 days to get to that place. I had to stay a night in my capital (Vientiane). I chose hostel because it’s cheap and I can make friends from there. After I entered in the hostel I was surprise, there were only a Japanese girl and i. we talked to each other and I knew that she had the same destination as me! I was like yayyy I won’t be alone. I didn’t expect 2 different nation girls would meet and have the same taste of traveling. her name was Ai, 31 years old, from Tokyo, Japan, she was nurse and me 24 years old. She asked me why do you travel on your own my answer was because I wanna know what is like, what it feels. The morning came out, we both prepared our stuff and get ready for long road. In a van there were 2 asian girls were sitting in there, I smile to one of them then get in the van and thought they were Vietnamese, the van kept picking up other customers. Along the road, I saw beautifull mountain and green jungle. After long journey the van took a break for 20 minutes. One of aisan girls in the van was around me, I couldn’t break my mouth to say “hi” to her and knew that they were from Hongkong, they were not Vietnamese, they tour Asia after their graduation. That was my first time I met people from Hongkong. I didn’t expect they chose to visit a small country like Laos. Finally Ai and I arrived Vangvieng we didn’t stay in a same hostel. At 16:00 I proposed Ai to walk around Vangvieng, we accidently found a place named smile beach so walked through then sat along the river. Suddenly there was a big balloon float around we couldn’t wait to take pictures. At 18:30 I took Ai to try traditional lao food. I felt sorry for her because she didn’t use to strong taste then we talked about our plan for tomorrow, we will go to blue lagoon and hiking. It was the second day in this beautifull city, we get ready for our adventure, we rent scooter and I let Ai drive. Along the road there were big attractive limestone mountains, we stopped to take photos with those beautifull natures. It took us 25 minutes to arrive blue lagoon, the water was so clear, blue and cold, people jump from the top to the water. It looked fun but I don’t think I will try. We sat down and dripped feet in the water and see people enjoy swimming. There was not a lot of people because it was rain season. At 16: 00 we turned back to the hostel. That was amazing, unbelievable and unexpected that 2 strangers travel together. Tomorrow I will go back to where I leave. I argue with myself should I stay in the capital or go through my hometown because sleeper bus is quite danger. Finally I decided to go through my hometown but unlucky the bus was completed. I felt so tired, bored and upset. While sitting in a mini bus to go to the hostel. Suddenly there was a western guy, he could speak my language. He got people surprise and laugh with his joke, that got me get out of boring feeling. Then I got in the hostel and again destiny sent a lovely roommate to me. Her name is Agnes, 41 years old, from Philippines, she was a teacher. When I first saw her I said “hi” to her and gave her a chocolate. We talked to each other a bit then she proposed me to had dinner and walked the night market. I wondered why she trust me!! We just met a few minutes, under wondering there is something amazing behind it. She was so kind and lovely I felt like I know her for long time. She ordered lots of foods, I was not sure we would finish them or not. Then we turned to our hostel, she told me all of her journey. I didn’t expect this will happen to me. I’m addicted to solo travel from that day. I want to thanks myself to not stop myself learning new thing, fighting fear and jump out of comfort zone and letting myself to the wonderfull place, thanks to those amazing people who join my journey. I learn a lot from it. It changes me a lot to be more confident. I hope one day I can go farther.
