It was a sunday night when I left my Delhi home with my family to attend a wedding in Mumbai. But as we were going to a different state for the first time in 20 years, we extended the trip by a week to explore Mumbai. It was exactly 20 years back when I travelled in a train as a kid. It was exciting everything was fun and there I was who watched TLC, fox history basically obsessed with the concept of travelling finally doing it myself again after 20 years. But as the fate has it, it was different from what I expected. We got into our train named dhuranto, it was okay, we ate the food we brought from home as the first rule of travelling is not to eat food you get in trains because it is no good. After 18 hours of travel our train finally made it to mumbai. As the train got more closer to mumbai, more I wanted to run back to delhi. The infrastructure disappointed me to the core as I watched from the train window. We finally made a stop at the central station. There was our sister wearing the shades and dripping in sweat, she came to pick us up. We all came from delhi wearing jackets and sweaters because it was cold in delhi but here in mumbai sun was definitely not a friend. I looked at my sister and said your mumbai is really beautiful, take my words with sarcasm intended. She laughed we left the station in 3 taxis. As we were in the car on our way to the house. I observed weird things about this place. First there were so many Mercedes Benz on road and second people lived in flats and those flats had windows which were covered by iron rods. Each and every window. From outside they seemed like a prison to be honest and honestly I didnt like it. I have always lived in spacious, open wide window houses all my life. The site of this was making me uncomfortable. So we started making jokes and let me tell you taxi driver was not happy but then we asked him if was from here and the man said no as he was from a different state so my brother thought it was okay to roast it more. We reached home met our cousins congratulated them for the wedding. They too loved in flats but it was not bad at all as it seemed. It was spacious from inside, windows had grills but that actually didnt bothered me as there was lot of light in the house. Plus I liked the vibe it was different from delhi. It felt like you were in the upper surface of earth. I know it's weird to say such but it felt different and good. So the 2 days we just attended the wedding. But 3rd and 4th my brothers didnt wanted to do much as they were really comfortable sitting on the couch chilling, doing karaoke, eating snacks talking to their girlfriends on text and oh my I was losing my shit. I came here to explore not to sit and do all things I could do in delhi. What was even the motive of travelling. I fumed outside with anger and took a walk outside in neighbpurhood. I wnat to go back I screamed to myself, if we are going to sit and chill, I better do that in delhi. Next day everyone decided to go to the beach. I was too darn excited, I love ocean plus I didn't see it for 20 years. We left the house wearing nice cool clothes. And damn we experienced the fright of traffic. The infamous mumbai traffic that makes you want to trade your soul to the satan just so you can reach destination for which you left the house in first place. We wanted to take pictures near the sunset and that clearly wasn't happening as were 1 hour late. But that's fine we were still happy to atleast see the beautiful ocean in the night. Plus the night was charming too with ocean in view. Ahhh we are finally here we stood there and watching the ocean and damn all the garbage that was on the shore. Wow people really need to take care of their place like they take care of their homes. Damn you mumbai people. Ocean breeze is really amazing you stand there and watch the ocean and amazing thing is that mental picture sticks with you forever because that's how magical it is. Near the butch we found some food stalls and oh my god it was spicy food. I ordered the dessert and that took my heart away as it was that tasty. The dish was special rabdi kulfi. It was heavenly. Best thing about mumbai infact. Now you know I am just a freaking foodie if there is good dessert I am happy. Since then I like mumbai more than Delhi. Too bad we were leaving soon. But I'll miss Mumbai for the vibe it had and the dessert it served.
