In France wine is important

I didn't expect to find France

As we descended from the second level of the Eiffel Tower after soaking in some breathtaking views of Paris and made our way to Champ de Mars, I didn’t expect to find fellow countryfolk selling bottles of wine and beer in buckets full of ice. This was my first time travelling abroad and my first day in the city of love with a group of people who I had met just a few hours ago. Braving the 674 steps to the second level of the Eiffel Tower didn’t stop us from haggling for that bottle of Rosé and with our new acquisition along with a couple of pints of chilled beer we found ourselves a spot to lounge with our eyes glued to the Eiffel tower for the rest of the night. I do not know whether to blame the wine, the lovely weather, the tiredness from the travel or the Eiffel Tower which had me smitten, but I was tipsy in no time. While the taste of the wine has stayed with me, so have the thoughts occupying my head in that very moment. It felt surreal to be sitting under the Eiffel and to have finally made it to Europe that I had desperately wanted to visit ever since. Before the feeling actually sank in, I was brought back as the crowd cheered each time the Eiffel Tower burst into sparkling lights.
