It was a quiet afternoon in July, and I was a 39-year-old young man, solving his own problems like millions of people around the globe, and that was when I observed on the local news, the disclosure of a literary contest for the production of short stories, aimed at children and teenagers, and then I thought about anticipating my son's school holidays and encouraging him to write. After a few days, we talked, studied and a fantastic story was created with a story telling an incredible experience of a teenager in the paths of his own history, mixing the most traditional culture and society of his grandparents' times with the new era of technology. So, without many expectations of a good result, because it was the first experience of father and son, and even without knowing what award we would be competing for, it was then that through an email message, we knew that we had been selected for a final , which would take place in the capital of a state of the Amazon Forest, however, the travel costs should be borne by the participants, and we did not have the financial conditions to travel to the capital of the Amazon, the metropolis Manaus. However, after the news was released, there was euphoria and local mobilization for us to represent our locality in the city of the company that sponsored the literary event, and it was that we traveled, father and son, after the biggest dream, which was to fly and meet the unknown. Once there, we were amazed at the grandeur of the place compared to our home city, with many buildings mixed with a lot of green trees, with a very intense commercial activity. For the first time we stayed in a hotel, very prestigious, and without paying anything. We visited the old streets of the city, strolled through the super-lit night, we were presented with a visit to a majestic theater built over 100 years ago in the city, which is a testament to the country's history. We were welcomed by Praça da República, whose monuments also recall remarkable facts of the people who once also experienced and honored such works, but which today no longer exist. However, the most striking were the people and the welcome that was given to us. We also know a magnificent Museum, which contains paintings, drawings, sculptures, religious art, local crafts, and technological relics such as telephones and obsolete photo machines. And at the end of two impressive days, we visited a cultural and literature festival, and there, we were blessed with recognition for our effort and with the title of best writing and creativity. But of course this story doesn’t end here, we went to enjoy one of the rivers that help to form the majestic Amazon River, the largest in volume of water and extension, but unfortunately we were unable to bathe, but until today we keep in memory and, we feel the freshness of the water as we have washed our feet in the Negro River. And we are aware of the value that knowledge provides, with the good name and the recognition of family members, friends and the whole society, which is greater than gold and silver.
