My lens is a "magic window" that reveals not only the world outside but also the land's, its people's and all living beings' soul within. In October 2019, I embarked on one of the most empowering explorations of cultural experiences ever. It was not a trophy trip to add to one's traveling diaries, "Been there, done that." Instead, my lens and I were immersed within a rich cultural environment of sacred space and inner mystery. As a photographer for a special envoy, I traveled the diverse and vast lands of Indonesia, a place of heartbreaking beauty, remarkable people, and authentic ways of living. Indonesians are beautiful, kind and generous. They are always grateful, and they share a deep appreciation for everything around them. Together, they prize their high values of respecting family, elders, and friends. Cooperation and happiness are embedded within their DNA, and attentively practice the best mannerisms of gracious hospitality. Thankfully during my trip, I was guided by the main leader guide, Ayu, a fearless energetic Balinese certified yoga teacher, who expressed endless kindness and an everlasting smile. I was also well guided by other distinguishing individuals at each destination, where I was welcomed and proudly shown everything about their culture. Everyone answered my endless questions and kindly shared their insightful points of views. From Jakarta to Palangkaraya, to Borneo to the jungle, along with my joyously sailing to the remote islands in Flores and Komodo, and then ending my travels on the quiet majesty of Bali.
