It was a bright sunny morning in Jodhpur. Sun and Rajasthan have a relationship which never seems to die. And it was no different with Jodhpur when the sun showered it with passionate kisses in the morning. The cold shy morning mist was gradually disappearing. I stepped out of my hotel room to experience this passion. Trust me when I tell u. It was truly refreshing. I noticed other creatures getting ready to make most out of the urban Jodhpur. Squirrels jumping from tree to tree, dogs warming themselves near fireplaces and cats lazily perched on walls. But, what caught my attention the most was the mighty squadrons of pigeons. They were up and geared up to occasionally launch themselves from the street tarmac. The ambience was silent apart from a few occasional flutters from the pigeon. All this energy in the other beings created craving in me for a drink of inspiration. I started looking around to spot any shops which could provide for my thirst. Still unsure of what would quench my thirst, I started following a lone pigeon which seemed to have allotted itself a target. The fluttering noises gradually faded. With eyes to the sky and mind wandering, my body took me a crossroad. Then there it was, a sweet smell of milk and spices. The lone pigeon perched itself on a flickering lamp post. And right below it was a tea shop. My eyes started gazing for a name, which I could never see. The universe unfolded itself when everything that inspired me in that morning lead me to that tea shop. Let me begin with a confession. I am not a big fan of tea. But there was some unexplained thirst in me which found joy in seeing that tea shop. I went straight and asked for a tea. The shopkeeper immediately obliged to it. I waited letting the floating scent to play with my mood. I received the tea in clay cup called "kulhad". The cold wind, warm sun and the flying pigeons all started cheering for me to take that ecstatic sip. Voila! The hot flavored liquid started filling my soul with a scent of bliss. I was smiling with joy. The refreshment I received took me to a zenith of spirituality. I paid the gentleman, thanked him for the exceptional experience and walked back to my room. I wanted to tell my friends what I went through. I wanted them to experience what I did. But a question kept popping up in my head. Will they really like the tea? Will they trivialize my experience to a personal turn off. Then it all came clear to me. The journey and experience that drove me to sip that tea gave me the energy, rather than the mere indulgence of it. We always seem to do things with specific outcomes out of it. Sometimes we may find joy or return with a cavity in satisfaction. Maybe, all that we need to do is to let the cold wind to be kissed by sun, to let squirrels play with its habitat and to let a pigeon guide you. Sometimes, a walk is all that it needs.
