Laboratory experience in a world-class University Just when I was about settling down in the new year (2019). I got a letter via email from Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) that my application for Blue Charter Fellowship was successful as part of 35 selected cohort of researchers to work on marine microplastics pollution. It was a 3-month Visiting Research Fellowship with Professor Kirk Taylor Semple as my host. The journey commenced on January 3, 2019, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Nigeria where I boarded the 10:45 p.m AirFrance flight to Manchester, United Kingdom with a brief stop-over at Charles de Gaulle International Airport, Paris, France. I took a late-night train to Lancaster, the home of Lancaster University. Little did I know that I was in for a good time. I was warmly welcomed by colleagues and researchers alike at Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University, United Kingdom. I landed in the thick of brutish snow in Lancaster, my first snow experience I must say. Work on a daily basis in the laboratory was full of fun. My stay made me foster long-lasting relationship with colleagues from Spain, Belgium, Holland and Portugal.
