Making a local connection Panama

To get to Bocas Del Toro, Panama I had to raise $2000.00. I set up a webpage with Lacrosse the Nations and was able to raise $1450.00 dollars in under 30 days. I contacted family, friends, organizations, corporate sponsors and organized fundraisers. After completing my Lacrosse the Nations fulfillment I then had to raise an additional $600.00 by opening a Go Fund Page. Again, I was able to raise over $2000.00 dollars in a thirty day period. I also was able to raise an additional $2000.00 In sports equipment for the organization on my behalf from three additional organizations. Play it Again Sports, Swax lax and Victory Lacrosse. I am forever thankful for all my generous donors that made this experience possible. Bocas Del Toro, Panama is a special place to me. I built relationships with many individuals of all personalities. Watching the kids play lacrosse is something I’ll never forget. When they play sports they play them out of pure fun not to impress others. Specifically a very sweet boy I met was afraid to play lacrosse because he was not as athletic. I was able to get him to play, and within the next 10 minutes was scoring goals. He brought joy to everyone when he was smiling in excitement about the game of lacrosse. I taught the kids dodges, throwing, shooting and behind the back. They loved our scrimmages. My friends and I met up with locals in the area we met and talked and swam in the ocean. We hiked and visited the school where we filled in for gym class and scrimmaged with the students. The games were super competitive and the students loved having lacrosse as an option to play thanks to all the Swax Lax balls and lacrosse sticks and equipment donated. A special moment to me was going to a beach and cleaning up garbage. Boys from our prior lacrosse session followed us and started picking up bags and helping us with the trash. Little things do go a long way. The language barrier was difficult but everyone was able to use what they could to communicate among everyone. We were able to improve our Spanish and help the kids with their English. Watching these kids grow in the game of lacrosse in the short time I spent with them has changed my life, and been such a rewarding opportunity to give back through the organization Lacrosse the Nations.
