If you had told me before this trip that I would agree with two days notice to go on a road trip to New York City after a relative stranger invited me to see Hamilton on Broadway, I never would have believed you but that's exactly what happened. The boy in question was somebody that I had met the previous month but we definitely were not friends and the exclusive reason why he had asked me in the first place was because I had a car. So two days later, I got into my car with him at four in the morning so that we could start our 12 hour journey. I had never been on a road trip prior to this and was completely nervous but it was also the most free I had ever felt. The free tickets were a dream come true and even though I was not the biggest theater person in the world, it was hard to pass down the offer. The ride was crazy and if you ever want to really get to know somebody then I strongly suggest you get in a car with them for basically 24 hours round trip. At one point, he had seen the Hell on Wheels truck from Gordon Ramsey's show on the opposite side on the road and fueled with a new sense of determination, made the executive decision to chase after it. He paid the toll and raced down the highway as fast as he could in order to catch up with the bus that I had never expected to see again. He even went as far as to follow the bus until it stopped on the side of the road so that we could get a picture with it before returning to the road. We made it to New York City with exactly 50 minutes to spare, bought the cheapest parking space in the area for a mere 10 dollars and convinced that I would never get my car back, raced to the theater. The show was absolutely mesmerizing and honestly, the fact that I had ever gotten the opportunity to even say yes was absolutely amazing. Despite the fact that I barely knew my road trip buddy and despite the fact I barely knew anything about Theater, I had completely fallen in love. When we left the show, we only had about 20 minutes before we had to get back to my car and leave but because of it being Halloween in the amazing city that New York is, we got to witness so many cultures coming together to celebrate this holiday. There were so many people wearing costumes that the pair of us were genuinely upset that we hadn't thought to wear one as well. I was not sure what I had expected from this insane road trip, but honestly it was the trip that fueled my love for traveling. It was this reminder that some of the most unexpected things in your life is one of the best experiences that you will ever have. That sometimes leaping into the unknown, even though you have no idea how deep the water is or if you'll even be able to come up out of the water at the end of the day, is the best decision that you will ever make.
