Travelling, who said it is just a word? For people like me it is a feeling which not everyone can describe. When a person travels, he/she is lost in the world all by themselves, being independent, no worries and lots of exploration. In short being lost in a world full of new experiences and curiosity, I guess that is what people passionate about travelling love about it. For me traveling is more about learning new things, understanding cultures, knowing people and about learning their stories. It is about experiencing new things, buying souvenir as well as understanding the history of the place, but above all its about living the moment. That is what travelling is all about, being yourself and letting all the worries go for some time. In college life students staying away from home have a upper hand to experience travelling. Being in a new city altogether has many places in store for them to visit and also places nearby that city just add to the Do List. Though there are times when we plan trips and they fail miserably but this is an amazing opportunity to grab, and just go and travel with friends, honestly it is one amazing experience. Reading this one may understand that I am obsessed with travelling. Recently my friends and I did the impossible, we planned a short vacation to Pondicherry and we succeeded. What should I even talk about? Going for a trip without our parents or the journey or the city or the food? So Pondicherry also known as Puducherry is a small Union territory surrounded by the state of Tamil Nadu. It took us around 8 hours to reach our destination from Bangalore. It is famous for its temples, churches, statues, colonial buildings but most importantly for its French architecture and beautiful beaches. Honestly I love to go to a beach thus this was like paradise for me, in three days we visited 5 different beaches and I wouldn’t deny that each beach had a beauty of its own. Playing in the water, or clicking photos on the rocks or just enjoying the dusk sitting on the shore all had its own perks. The churches which were built in the 18th and 19th century had brilliant architecture and were maintained really well. Though it does get lonely in the night I loved strolling around the city as there were some particular areas which had a beauty of its own especially at night. The French houses were mesmerizing, there were streets which only had those houses and it felt like we have entered a whole new world in Pondicherry. The Aurobindo Ashram is something travelers need to visit, as we can get food and lodging facilities at a minimal amount. Other than that one must visit Matrimandir, the French war memorial, the botanical garden, the Light house and the Museum as well as the boat house, I promise you won’t regret going there. One of the most important things while traveling is food, and if you love sea food Pondicherry is a place you must visit. We get delicious sea food delicacies in city, also if you love French food there are beautiful in house restaurants, which serve you with mouthwatering main course and desserts. Importantly the alcohol there is much cheaper compared to many places in India. The interesting thing is that we can rent vehicles at a minimal amount and explore the city. There are good and affordable lodging facilities. The food in the restaurants is a bit expensive but it is worth it. The city has a culture of its own with a blend of localities, travelers and foreign tourists. Honestly this place is special for partly because it was a beautiful place and partly because it was my first independent trip. I would highly recommend people to go and explore this beautiful union territory; honestly the experience would be worthwhile. But above all I would urge the readers to travel, to explore the world, to enjoy the experience of being somewhere unknown. Cause travelling is the best education one can have.
