A leap into the unknown Australia

Shares

As I look out from the bow of the speed boat, passing over waves of crystal clear water on the Pacific Ocean, I realize I’m inching forward to a beach that’s secluded from the rest of the world. The boat makes landfall, and I jump off into a foot deep of water and walk over to this beach. As my feet make contact with the white sand, I pitch myself to make sure this isn’t a dream. For there’s no way, I could really be in such a beautiful spot. This beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and it’s called the Whitsundays Beach in Australia. If you close your eyes, imagine landing on this beach. The sand is white and silky, the water is transparent, everything from the air to the sand between your toes are breathtaking. It honestly feels like you’re on another planet, and can’t believe that there is really such beauty in our world. I take a deep breath in and understand clearly what it means to follow your dreams. For as long as I can remember this was my dream, to see this beach and travel in Australia. My family thought my dream was a little too ambitious, for their liking but I realized that inorder to make my dream come true, I’ll have to come to terms that I can’t make everyone happy. By realizing this, I bought a ticket to Australia, joined a summer abroad group, and made one of the best adventures of my life. I took a leap into the unknown, and I’m so glad I did. Australia holds a lot of the world's most beautiful destinations, but none will stick out like Whitsundays Beach. Following my dreams led me to this place of beauty, and it wasn’t just the beach that had me in awe. The wildlife there took me by surprise. With the crystalline water along the beach, one could see stingrays, schools of fish, octopuses, and even starfish. Some of these creatures were so friendly to humans, that they would come right up to us. Whitsundays had my heart, and ever since I’ve been trying to get back. I remember a quote from the philosopher Socrates where he claimed, “an unexamined life is not worth living” and for me that means, I truly wasn’t living until I examined what life has to offer. What life has to offer us, is adventure. So take the leap and examine the unknown. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a place that fills your heart, like Whitsundays filled mine!
