I didn't expect to find Ghana

Shares

There is was February 4, 2017. I was boarding a flight out of Newark to go to Africa. Freaking Africa! I was so excited. I didn’t have any idea on what to expect. After downing three glasses of Merlot I found myself on Ethiopian airlines not knowing this day will change my life. Once I landed in Ghana, the airport was just like I expected it to be and more. I was an American in Africa all eyes were on me. As I waited for my driver so many guys kept approaching me it was like I was a celebrity or the last piece of chicken during Sunday dinner. Finally my driver arrived and brought me to my Airbnb. It was lovely! Pool views, security literally everywhere. I felt like I was royalty. Once I settled I went downstairs to the restaurant to get food. I sat out side because on the patio is where they had hookah. As I sat alone, a guy approached me. He was handsome, he had on a fresh white Gucci polo shirt shorts and Gucci sneakers. At first I didn’t know how to take it. He sat down and we talked for a while he actually lived in Atlanta before and was just visiting for the holiday in which was a relief. I told him I was meeting my friends who lived in Nigeria but were coming to meet me the following day. That whole day he ended up taking me around Ghana (in my mind I’m like this that shit you see in the movies lol could this be my African prince) honestly really enjoyed his company. So when I got back to my room that’s when I checked his IG we had a lot of mutual friends. Now Day Two.. I was so excited because my friends were coming in town. One particular was my ex who we became the best of friends after he moved back to Nigeria. As my friends arrive they take me out to some park it was nice. I really enjoyed how different Ghana was, the culture was unbelievable. As we drive through the local streets and just to see how everyone hustles like really hustles gave me motivation. Back in America we take thing for granted. Throughout the whole day, Kofi was calling me and checking on me and ended up me us for dinner at this restaurant near a mall. He clicked with my friends. All I could think of was how did this happen, These things don’t just happen. That night we all went out to this club called Twist. It was crazy packed. That night Kofi ended up staying over. He passed out on the couch once we walked in the door. I slept in my bed room. I woke up to money left on the table and a note telling me a good nail salon to go to because I told him the day before I wanted to get my nails done. That day I didn’t hear from him it all it was strange. I went to the salon. It was really nice. I was talking to my nail tech and she was just telling me how the owner would be here soon she’s from Atlanta and I would probably get along well with her. The owner walks in she sits next to our table and starts to converse with me, comes to find out she lives in Atlanta and she just comes to Ghana every 3/4 months. We clicked she was telling me stories about her past relationships and how she now in a great relationship with a guy. At the moment she then goes on IG and shows me a picture of them. When tell you my heart dropped. Her boyfriend was Kofi. I could not believe this man I basically spent my first two days with had a whole girlfriend. He sent to this shop like what type of shit was this. I liked this woman she invited me out. I was in a dilemma. I could not stop thinking about everything. I came to Ghana to be on my Eat Pray Love shit not this. I played myself.
