There it was, Budapest Fashion street, one of the top shopping destinations of the capital, it was empty as hell though. On a Saturday night, everyone else was in the ruin pubs, where I was a few minutes ago. What was I doing here? who's this gorgeous stranger holding my hand? Well, it happened all too fast, I just came to Hungary, literally, I haven't spent a full 24 hours yet, abroad. A few hours ago, I was taking the plane for the first time in my life, leaving my family and friends. What have I expected? Nothing major for a first weekend, just to find the friend, more like the acquaintance that would host me, not to get lost and to see the Danube. I had two years to spend in this country, I will have the time to see the monuments and travel around, the first days were to settle a bit. However, everything changes when one steps in a new continent. I was hit by the rush of new air. I have waited long enough for this. This is a new cold, the buildings are different, people look and sound different. Beautiful! I had no internet connexion, I didn't speak Hungarian, but somehow, I managed to get to my friend's place at 2 AM in the morning. I didn't have my luggage, they lost it! Terrific, I said. Even though, I wasn't super stressed about it. I was literally in a feelings' coma, I was focusing on "surviving", losing some items was acceptable, as long as I kept all my limbs and organs. I slept for some hours, I got some phone calls at 6 AM making sure I was fine. I wasn't, I needed to sleep more than 3 hours, please! I woke up though. I kept on browsing the web, I got some water, I remember because tab water was delicious, so clear that I drank too much of it. My friend woke up later, she made me tea, more water! It was already 2 PM. We went out. Oh, that Budapest... No wonder it is still one of my favorite destinations, it is magical... The food though, that's another story, we will get there another time. We had Pizza, pizza is always a decent option, or so I imagined. Anyway, we met with one of her friends, one who knew the city too well, one who took me to my next great story. We passed by the Danube, it was freezing, we were in February, but I didn't freeze until I savored that beauty, the Parlement and the Danube... I was taken away by the beauty and magical aura around the river. We went later to Szimpla Kert, the most famous ruin bar in Budapest. Little did I knew that I would be making such an impact in there. Let's go out, he said, let's discover the city, I said. I don't know how I got to trust that person I just met. I have a great sense of direction, but I didn't know it back then, so I couldn' go home without any indication, Give him the address I said to my friend, will you get me there later? I asked. "Sure". I can always get there on my own, right? I thought, not really. But here you were madame, talking to the Spanish tourist who took your picture while you were posing in the bathtub in the bar, -just a decor piece; it's not one of those creepy stories. We talked for too long, I was super cold, but it didn't bother me, we toured the entire city, I learned it by heart since that day. I won't finish the story now, I would just comment on one thing. Traveling makes you fearless, strong, confident and very beautiful in your adventurous way. It was never about the guy, the place or the company, rather the way I felt and how it reflected on me. I walked as if there was no tomorrow, nothing to worry about, I was shining in that dark night, I was stunning in a new way. I was reborn and it made me steal all eyes.
