An indian journalist travels to Kyrgystan to do a story on the lives of the locals there. Her grand dad had served in the British Indian Army on the borders of Kyrgystan during the world war. While unravelling her grand dad's roots and the lives of the locals, she falls in love with a her tour guide who is a local young boy from the village nearby. A day before she is about to depart from the country, she decides to express her feelings to the boy. But before she could reach upto the boy- that evening the boy and his friends come and abduct her. She is taken to his family house and prepared for marriage. The girl could not understand what is happening. Only to later realise that she is under abduction-marriage custom of the locals there. As soon as she behaves normally the ceremony starts and she is just hell shocked. All of a sudden her story of locals becomes the story about abduction-marriages prevailing in the locality. Being the village's bride she gangs up with all such girls who were abducted-married and tried to form a movement to reach out to the government. Only to later realise that her own father in law is fighting for the upcoming elections. That is when the fight comes fact to face and she and several other brides like her decides to take the village head on to defeat this autocratic custom and win the elections. What unfolds is the politics, drama and the tragedy of life of this young Indian girl who ends up discovering where are the roots of her grand dad lies in present day kyrgystan.
