Making a local connection USA

I’m a medical social worker. I’ve always loved traveling and love my profession. I could not reconcile the two interests until I landed a job working with patients with kidney disease interested in getting a transplant. Give the diverse population I serve, I soon learned that I was vicariously traveling through stories of my patients who would share bits and pieces of their ethnic culture, language and country. This increase my desire to travel and I’m now determined to travel to at least one country per year even if it is for a few days. As a result of this, I’ve thus far traveled to UAE and Mexico. I would love to visit every country in each continent and learn about the local culture, history, and my fellow humans. The minimum travel that I’ve experienced already has expanded my horizons and improved my self-confidence, so much so that I plan to become a traveling and/or international social worker in order to serve humanity and simultaneously live my dream of traveling abroad and reaching out to people I may never meet otherwise. I truly hope that I’m considered for this scholarship for I would be much obliged and grateful.
