A leap into the unknown Slovenia

On the eve of 27th April 2018 I sat patiently with my colleagues waiting for my first travel outside the Africa. I had never been outside Africa and this was a huge breakthrough for me and my famiy. As we went through the immigration the rest of my colleagues went through smoothly but I had a bit of a trouble!! "Where are you off to?" The officer asked. "Am on my way to Slovenia sir" I humbly replied, due to my small looks the officer got a bit suspicious of where I was going and what I was going to do since most of my country people never go out of the country often. "How did you get the trip" the officer dropped another question . "I saw it online and applied its all fully funded" as I brought out my necessary documents required. For once I stood there knowing my travel that I've been waiting for so long being ruined and heading back home heads down!!. "Let him through!" I heard another officer saying . I thanked God for a minute as I was on my way finally to Slovenia. Soon we boarded the flight off to Turkey where we met another connecting flight to Slovenia. I did not know what to expect in Slovenia really as I merely got a chance to go to a conference called CONNECTSLOVENIA that was going to take place for five days only and then I would head back home. All I knew about the country was that it was a part of former Yugoslavia and that Donald Trump's wife Melania Trump hailed from there. It was pretty much a leap into the unknown. As we landed in Ljubljana the capital of Slovenia I realised my dreams being a reality I finally had taken step on land outside Africa and that too in a European country! I was pretty much happy an relieved. The first encounter that took me to the amazement is that I didn't expect the amazing landscapes as well as vegetation in a European country it definitely took me by surprise!! What amazed me more is to see the alps in Slovenia as I am so fascinated by mountains and seas. What amazed me most at first sight was the sun setting so late it was past 20:00hours and the sun still had not gone down back in my country its dark by 6pm,as I looked around admiring the country I had to pause for a selfie as I could not waste time for such a glorious moment! 'Do you see Europe now?' asked Jamal a friend of mine "yes I do" I remarked We finally got to the place of the conference a waldorf school in Ljubljana. The reception was amazing and brilliant it made me feel more welcomed from that moment I learned of the good people can be anywhere. We were then showed to our rooms where I had a nice sleep. The next morning it was well and good lots of smiling faces and meeting the locals, one of locals who participated at the conference Nina Trdan offered to show as around as she took us to the Ljubljana castle a point at which the entire city of Ljubljana can be seen . It was a delightful experience. The next day after lectures at the conference we went sight seeing around the city , I could not keep my eyes off the old majestic buildings as we walked through the Dragon bridge having to know the story behind the name as well as the Slovenian beliefs in dragons. I often had time to roam with the locals around the streets of Ljubljana but what made me miss home is meat as I love meet but most of the country is vegetarian I was told hence I had to live with that. I had amazing time at an aquatic farm at the country side in Ljubljana learning new facts to bring back home. For the last day of my stay I had the most cherished moment in life as we made memories having learned new cultures and making new friends it was time to go home with memories to live on.
