How do I start? When i was about 14 years of age my Godmother Diane Murphy Johnson took me on my first trip to Negril Jamaica to celebrate her anniversary as well as a gift to me for my 15th birthday. It was the best week of my life. I never flew on a plane before. I never been to the islands before either. When she asked Sweetpea want to go on a trip with me to Jamaica I was astonished. My answer was " I would love to Mom, but how are we going to get to Jamaica? She goes "A plane Silly , how else would we get there? A plane i replied. I never been on one of those. There's a first time for everything hunni. I have to ask my aunt first. Im sure she wont mind she assured me. I asked her she said yes so i began packing and shopping preparing for my trip to Negril Jamaica. I packed a few bathing suits, pajamas, sandals, towels , underwear maybe a few short sets along with tanning lotions off spray some disposable cameras. I went to my friend Kanai's house who lived around the corner from my house. Kanai loved to do manicures and pedicures so she dolled me up real quick i told her and another friend of mines from school about my trip and everyone was excited for me because it got me out of their hair for a few days their parents loved to cook and i loved to eat and they swore up and down i smelled every time their parents fried chicken from my house to theirs they always said girl your nose like toucan sam you smell that chicken from a mile away, and to be honest im sure they were right. They always teased me about having to tag along my little cousin all the time too so they were like you taking Martina bad but with you too? Your aunt going make her go with you to prom too watch because Martina showed up with me dressed like my twin on the night of my 6th grade dance. They teased me about her tagging along everywhere but that was my aunts way of having a surveillance camera on me 24/7 when truth is she needed one for her. Anyhow i was all packed and set to go we boarded our plane flew an Air Jamaica jet for about 3 to 4 hours got to Jamaica in no time. My godmother made sure i had plenty of gum because she said that our ears were going to pop. From being in the air. We flew over the clouds which was amazing when we got there we went through customs. Aboarded our minivan to the hotel and once we got settled in my mom literally let me go as i pleased it was so fun no rules not too many restrictions her only thing was for me to check in maybe 3 times a day. Our trip was prepaid for so it seemed as if i could eat or drink anything i wanted fres of charge but like i said it was prepaid for. The first day there i stumbled across a crowd of ppl laughing and dancing and one guy was on the microphone he had everyone state their names and where they were from i began to do a dance called the butterfly so everyone did the dance like me everyone was teaching us to do different dances the music was great the vibes were great i met new ppl my age they aked me where i was from i said my name and DC my Godmother was too through she said she asked her husband where he think i went then they heard the guy repeat my name over the loud speakers. It was so funny then we got to go on a teen cruise on a small speed boat out into the ocean the guy got in the middle of the ocean & yelled everyone jump in everyone jumped in the ocean i was left standing on the boat eventually i conquered my fear dived in & met Jodeci at the airport on the way back i have so much more to say but im already over 700 words best trip of my life got an amazing tan did banana boating swimmed all day everyday they had bars in the swimming pool where you could swim up and get smoothies while in the pool. That trip was heaven on earth never been on a trip like that since i begged my Godmother to leave me there. She was my bestfriend. I miss her with all my heart lost her in 03/17/2011 to cancer. Im way overdue for another trip im a published author shoe designer and i have writers block this wouls be Amazing trip for me and my two teenagers.
