That was really a leap into the unknown ... it is a journey I hadn’t previously prepared for it .. and had not planned .. My name is Mahmoud And I was a student in the twelfth grade, meaning the last stage of secondary school, and I was preparing myself to enter the engineering college and study architecture in a country that was exhausted .. And when I took the exams, the unexpected disaster occurred on the tenth of June , and specifically at eleven o'clock at night, the city of Mosul fell, where I was born, studied, and played in her alleys, fell into the hands of a few thugs. I don’t know where they came from .. In that hour I could only hear the artillery fire and the sound of bullets .. I was with my two uncles and cousin who remained My grandfather's house .. As for the rest of the families, they had fled to the Kurdistan region ; the safe area to escape the battles that existed between the Iraqi army and ISIS forces. - Mahmoud, they are coming here. The other side of the city has fallen, An hour until they took over the entire city and catch us here, hurry and inform Karim and Yunus that we will leave immediately .. My uncle Karim was a physicist, and years ago, and specifically in the year 2006, gunmen belonging to al-Qaeda shot him trying to kill him and hit him with three bullets that he suffered bleeding , and my father transferred him to the hospital to help him .. My uncle Karim did not die and unfortunately he was totally paralyzed as a result of this .. The important thing is that he still alive .. and on the day of the great disaster and the fall of the city of Mosul in the hands of bastards .. And the occurrence of what has happened .. I entered the room where my uncle was .. and I told him , get ready now, we will leave now. At any moment, the terrorists may reach us .. I carried him on my back and rushed him to the car .. and without packing my luggage or even taking some clothes with me .. And in the car I was with my uncles and cousin Ahmed, and Ahmed was the driver .. And when we moved , we encountered a vehicle carrying gunmen and one of them opened fire towards the sky in order to scare us to change our direction ! .. And as soon as we reached the outer borders of the city of Mosul in the depth of that complete darkness, I realized that I was heading towards an unknown future and an arduous journey that would take many years ! .. That night was the last time I saw my beloved city ( Mosul ) , until the moment of writing this story .. When we reached the borders of Kurdistan and specifically the city of Dohuk, we were not allowed to enter .. I do not know why because I did not understand the military tactics .. The important thing is that .. the next morning at seven in the morning .. The soldiers opened the border and They allowed us to pass .. The first thing that my eyes realized the city of Dohuk was that the huge buildings and tall buildings .. Imagine that I had never seen a building of this height before in my city of Mosul .. And it was the first time I traveled outside the borders of my city and really I was surprised when I saw these wonderful buildings and amazed .. the city streets that were filled with trees Green, unlike my city of Mosul, which is free of dusty trees .. Even the signs of the shops were very arranged and the colors coordinated. Say, if you like, it was paradise due to me ! The streets are clean, free of dirt, what a beautiful city! Honestly, I faced many problems . it’s a long story .. After that, I entered College of Architecture and I am now in the third stage at the University of Duhok .. And I will endeavor to turn Mosul into a wonderful city as one of the cities of Kurdistan.
