As I was growing up as a little boy at the age of 13 years old in high school at that time, I always had a strong passion for traveling seeing myself in different places around the world. Finally, I graduated from High school and developed the courage to make a move out of the comfort zone I called home. I persuaded my parents that I wanted to continue my schooling in Ghana, not knowing. My idea was to explore and travel around different countries in Africa at the same time doing my education, and my first choice was Ghana. I liked Ghana very much as all my favorite Nollywood actors come from there say of Nadia Buhari and Van Vicker. I anticipated that I would get to meet these my superhero and role models, which did not happen as Ghana was not a small city, as I had pictured in my mind. My parents believed in me, and wanting the best for their only son who saw a bright future on the other side of the world gave all their support. My national examination result was excellent, and they think about what I discuss with them earlier on about my traveling to Ghana and further my studies. They approved and allowed me to go to Ghana on my own. A country that I did not know anyone nor had relatives there, but I was excited about seeing myself in another country developing new experiences and vow into a new culture. During my first weeks in Ghana, I spent in a hotel. Meanwhile, I went to Legon University was I intend to do my studying. Still, after my inquiry with the University, I find out that the fees were too high for my parents to cover, not thinking of the accommodation that made the university too expensive for me and opted not to enroll. After receiving this news in my first week, I did not immediately tell my parents as te would have ordered my immediate return at home. I thus decided to take on adventures at Accra that lasted for three months. I first went to Tema village, a place where many people lived a low life. People had to walk kilometers and kilometers to find water, and people had to go to the forest to fetch firewood for their daily cooking. People here used stretched beds made from sisal and trees and dry grass. I was used to the average life at home where I got comfortable experience, and being in this village for the first time, made me realize how I was lucky to be born where I was born at. Life at first was not as easy as I integrated my self with the community members. I was doing their routine as a boy, going out to look after the cows and coming back in the evening collecting firewood. In no time, I was into the people’s systems and came to realize that people from Tema village were not only known for the most peaceful community in the country but also people with high and strong values. During my stay there, I got to learn and practice their values of community, where we will all do activities together. The value of a family that no one or family could go through suffering as the others would be there to support them. Respect was outmost as from the old to the young ones Respect was accorded to all. These are the values that grounded me more into my growth, and I hold them dearly in my heart. After the three months after my parents got to know how my journey to Ghana transpired and they send me a ticket to go back home this time I had become identifying my self as coming from Tema, I had no option but to leave the new home, siblings, and family that I had found in them. This adventure that enabled met to learn great life experiences and grounded me to the man I am today. This is the reason why I always go back to Tema village and visit my other family.
