Growing up in a middle-class family in the village of Goalpara, a place situated on the banks of the mighty river, the Brahmaputra was not the only reason for my flowing unconstant thoughts, it was the scenic beauty of my small town that made me curious about how the world looks like. Since a very young age, I was ready to explore the world, however, my parents always convinced me that once I become an adult and start earning money, I will be able to achieve what I want. Just like the word nomads, a traveller can never be constant like my thoughts. As I grew older, I learned that to give wings to my dreams, it's I who need to take the plunge. Hence, to begin my journey as a traveller, I started off with a short trip in my home state Assam. Well, let me tell you that if you haven’t been to the northeast then you must know that the seven sisters in Asia are the best travel destinations for those who love to explore the mountains and valleys. The different people, culture, ethnicity, race, language, food and diversity in the northeastern states of India is beyond any comparison to any other places in the world. I left home to travel to Mayong, the place which is known to be scary to most who depend on google search. Mayong is known to be the hub of black magic. This village in Morigaon district of Assam had some of the most horrifying tales. It is told by people visiting the place that there have been some cases which proves that black magic does exist in Mayong. During my visit, I found that the practice isn't active anymore due to the rising Vaishnavite religious beliefs of the local people. I went to several households to verify the details that I had acquired. The two-day trip was an eye-popping and educational one. From learning about the extinct magic practices to the local food and traditions of the people living at Mayong, everything surprised me in an overwhelming way. The tales of Mayong truly intrigued me and I returned home with lots of surprising and wonderful experiences. After this magical trip, I didn't want to stop. My first trip was a blast and next, I wanted to travel to, Meghalaya, which is also called the abode of clouds. In Meghalaya, while I wondered through the pucca streets, the tall pine trees gave a feeling of serenity and peace. Watching the sunset through the beautiful pine trees is worth living in a place like Shillong. It is also called the Scotland of the east. Well, there are a lot to stories that seem to be fascinating for a traveller. But, to get the experience one must visit and see places for themselves.
