I am Eroko, a scientific researcher at the Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa. I remember after my studies at the University of Yaounde 1, I have decided to pursuit my research studies in South Africa. My objectives were to promote bilingualism (French and English) and to be more professional as Cameroon compared to South Africa is a developing country. It was my first time to prepare such event, where I was supposed to get a valid passport, and apply for a visa. Everything went well, now it is the time to travel after obtaining a study permit from the high commission of South Africa in Cameroon. I have taken my departure from the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport, I have arrived firstly in Nairobi-Kenya as I was using Kenya Airways, as I did not know that I was supposed to be at the gate 45 minutes before, I have missed my place in the plane, I have to now renegotiate with my broken english to get a pass, this was a dramatic story, but luckily I got a boarding pass and I traveled well to South Africa where even my luggages were missed, but I have received them in my place two days later. In South Africa, I have to quickly learn English, because without english you cannot express yourself anywhere, I remember one day, I was supposed to purchase some food in a shop, firstly I needed to consult my dictionary for the words that I will be using in front of a cashier. I arrived in March 2012 and in April winter season started, at that moment I was looking for a supervisor who will be helping me to continue my Master's degree. I got one and I have fulfilled all the requirements to get my degree and now I my dealing with my PhD. My Journey in South Africa was not easy at all, I am a french speaking person and now I have to change my own system to the english one at the tertiary level, this was like a dream for me, but I have succeeded. Today I am also giving private tutorials in Mathematics and Statistics to the first year-students both as undergraduate and MBA candidate.
