I belong to a country with the 5th largest population in the world known as Pakistan. Due to unemployment and inflation, there is heavy competition among the youth in Pakistan. But I was quite fortunate that I got a chance to learn the Chinese language two years program on scholarship in Shanghai, China. Last two years, I was in China. I have traveled a lot throughout these two years, many famous places many ancient and historical cities of China. One of my favorite traveling memory was my route to one of the most ancient cities of China named Nanjing. Nanjing City first established as the state capital in 229 CE. It has long been one of the country’s most important (and largest) inland river ports and is recognized as one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. Homo erectus fossils dating around 600,000 years have been found here; and the 600-year-old stone walls that surrounded the city during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) still stand alongside monuments to the early Republic of China and modern skyscrapers, giving the city constant visual links to its complex and changing past. I and my Chinese fiance made a plan to visit Nanjing on the 15th of September 2018. We bought fast train tickets from WeChat online ticket purchasing option, it is really simple and beneficial. We left at 7 o'clock in the evening from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to Nanjing South Railway Station, and it only took 1 hour to arrive there. After that, we took the subway to reach the hotel. We have already booked a hotel online, which is quite close to the Subway station. We put out luggage in the hotel after checking-in there and run towards the restaurant as we were really hungry. After having our dinner we came back to the hotel room as we know the next going to be really tiring. The next day we got up early and made a quick change and left the hotel as there were three guests waiting for us outside the hotel. My girlfriend's university fellow, her husband and their cute little baby boy (Chinese name Mumu). They were really happy to see us as we were too because it's my first visit with the Chinese family. We had a fantastic breakfast at a famous Muslim restaurant. Soon after having breakfast our journey to visit the beautiful city started. Our first destination was Zhonghua Gate. Zhonghua Gate is Situated along the Qinhuai River, the massive gate is the southern gate of Nanjing City Wall. It is the largest and best-preserved castle-like gate in China and the most complex structure in the world. Zhonghua Gate was originally known as Jubao Gate which was built from 1366 to 1387 in Ming Dynasty. It is a part of Nanjing City Wall. The entire castle extends 129 meters from south to north and 118 meters from east to west, with the highest point of the city wall being 21.45 meters. Zhonghua Gate has an important position in the military, history, and culture showing ancient Nanjing. The second place that we choose to visit was The Memorial Hall of the Nanjing Massacre is a hall to memorialize those that were killed in the Nanjing Massacre by the imperial Japanese Army in and around Nanjing in December of 1937. It is located in the southwestern corner of Nanjing known as Jiangdongmen. The third and the last destination was The Nanjing Confucius Temple or Fuzi Miao in Chinese. It is located on the Northern bank of the Qinhuai River. As one of the 4 great Confucius Temples in China, it is actually a building complex that mainly consists of three parts, namely the Confucius Temple, School and Examination Hall. It is a place for people to worship Confucius, the great thinker and educator in ancient China. The other three well-known Confucian shrines include the Confucian Temple in Jianshui, the Confucian Temple in Xian (now the Forest of Steles) and the Confucian Temple in Beijing. And visiting these places was enough for us for that day. After seeing off our hosts we get back to the Railway Station as we have return tickets of Shanghai in the evening.
