A leap into the unknown France

It was a misty cool night as Kedralyn and I raced towards the Eiffel Tower. I smelled cinnamon funnel cakes in the air. Along the way, I spied miniature towers that illuminated the path. We followed the lights to the life-size structure and there it was the Eiffel Tower. It was absolutely beautiful beyond its physical appearance. Draped in gold and white lights, this was my moment in time for two reasons: 1. Paris has always been on the top of my bucket list, 2. travel is my reprieve from reality. I've watched ETV documentaries of the city of love and read books to become knowledgeable about the culture. I've always been fascinated with French cuisine. While here in Paris, we tried pasta, pizza, and pastries such as dainty pastel macarons and fluffy croissants. While visiting a local grocery store in Paris, I noticed there was fresh bread out in the open. In Europe, food items are much healthier. After seeing the Eiffel tower, we walked to a restaurant in close proximity and we did the unthinkable, we tried a snail better known as Escargot. This delicacy is actually an appetizer. As I bit into it, I savored the flavor and oils. It was not bad at all. I was proud of myself because I stepped out of my comfort zone and after reading a blog post I dared myself to do it. The next day we got up early at 9 a.m. to visit the Louvre Museum. It was a rainy morning but the weather did not deter us from exploring Parisian history. Once we got into the museum we participated in a guided tour. We learned so much about European historic figures. We waited patiently and witnessed the Mona Lisa, it was quite unique. The Louvre features a series of temporary exhibitions. I found the Egyptian Antiquities most exciting. Walking through the museum I noticed the intricate details of the doors and ceiling. My favorite site in the museum was the Daru staircase. It is located on the site of the former staircase of the Musee Napoleon and was built by Lefuel from 1855-1857 in the Pavillon Daru. Kedralyn and I anticipated visiting this part of the museum because superstar singer Beyonce and Jay Z did a song and video here in this particular part of the Louvre. We were able to tour the Beyonce trail and witness where she and her dancers performed. To close the night, we decided to go to a bar with a live band and music. We danced until 2 a.m. with the DJ, and a professional choreographer, it was the perfect way to end the trip.
