My Unexpected Spontanious Adventure

My name is Carmal Roxanne Cleaver. Late August 2015, my family and I moved from Auckland city, to Whangarei city. Finding work in hospitality, I began a forty hour weekly roster at Mean's restaurant. Two month's into work I found myself fading. Adjusting to a new town, and my first full time job gave me a sense of feeling lost and almost desperate wondering if this is what the rest of my life would look like. On a weekend half way into my shift, the travel company staff from across the road came in to have an annual meeting. Seeing them all so lively really got me going. I was fresh out of high school desperate for things to be put back to how they were. That day after finishing up at work I wondered past the 'House of Travel office'. Taking a lingering look at those travel locations I decided the next day I was going to book a ticket to see one of my favourite motivational speakers at an overseas location. The following day, my day off became one of the most memorable days of my life. Early morning I set off to town, taking my first steps into the office it was difficult not to break a sweat. Seventeen years old, and I hadn't spoken a word about it to friends or family what was I thinking? Reaching the front desk with strides that felt they were in slow motion I asked shakily, "Hi, I'd like to make an appointment to travel". The front desk clerks-women responded oh so kindly with friendly greetings and an appointment time for the Thursday morning the following week. That Thursday morning flew around, taking a few hrs in between shifts I walked out of the travel office with return tickets to LA, California, June 15th. Sometime early morning June 16th I arrive in LA. Going through security I wait in line for a bus to the Hollywood main streets. A large 35kg suitcase packed to the brim for a two week stay. I must admit I should have taken my travel agents advice and taken only a small carry on. I spent the day getting to know a professional drummer, Ben Barter. After attending the much anticipated conference I decided to stay another six weeks. This entail being immersed in Spanish culture, and celebrations with friends made along the way. It was fantastic!
