A leap into the unknown Iceland

When your 35th anniversary is coming and you are looking on the model of the Globe, put your finger, swing it and here you are-Iceland. I had no idea about this land of fire and ice. Something from school-that it is almost so far in the North that Polar bears are walking there on the streets. And then I appeared sitting on the plane and heading to this unknown spot with a share of excitement. It was near Christmas period and Reykjavik looked very bright: they do not close their windows with curtains and you can see the life routine of the locals just from the outside. Another amazing thing about these crazy North people is that they have almost the same DNA and now are tested as the whole community. It means that if you like someone in bar and you want some affair, you need to ask first about “Who is your dad?” The landscapes around the island are dramatic-snow peaks, volcanic craters, famous waterfalls, glaciers, erupting geysers and such a strong wind which blows you as Ellie from Wizard of Oz. However the most unforgettable experience is to see the Northern Lights. They are so tricky and depend upon so many factors and you need to be a super lucky person to see them dancing in the sky. So, two girls standing on the edge of the North Atlantic Ocean were gazing into the sky holding the breath and awaiting the miracle to happen. The beacon gave the light to the enormous mass of the ocean, the myriads of stars were hanging glittering in the universe above our heads and suddenly a line of green light appeared. It grew bigger, changed its route, faded and sprang up again in its wild dance. Really mystery Aurora Borealis… On the last day sitting on the stones near the ocean and viewing the red sunset in the Smokey Bay, you just ask yourself-how do people manage to live in such a harsh environment where every minute there is an earthquake (even if it is not physically felt),no green trees around-just black lava rocks and no industry. But they do manage-they use the geothermal energy and grow their own tomatoes in the greenhouses, they swim in the ocean, they eat ice-cream in winter, they are dressed under the last fashion even with drastically temperatures outside, they know each other as almost all of them are relatives. An ideal community or an utopia?
