After successfully completing my training with Roswell Job corp I had decides to take my training into advance mode though Californias Treasure Island job Corps, which gave me the opportunity to travel to San Francisco. A place that was unknown to a young Navajo boy such as myself at the time. I would be exploring new situations, meeting new and different people, capturing images in my head of how all the old buildings have developed through passing times and my guessing of what they will look like far after I was gone. This had widen my imagination and how I would think of everything including how all types of people acted towards me when I had gone home to the Navajo Nation. My first stop was the airport as to mostly every traveling adventure that was far from home. There was no fear, only impatience for I had to wait on my school to pick me up and a few other students that had wanted to advance in their training as well. These individuals were from all over the United States and because the program that we had entered was freshly new and developed; the new trainees had to stick together and learn how to work together effectively for we were all multi-cultured but I was the only Navajo. School is school and I did not have to worry about falling behind, because I was all caught up in my studies. So through my stay I did most of my time walking the streets of San Francisco getting to know her without looking at my handy dandy map. Oh, what a journey I had walking the boardwalks, downtown China, downtown van ness, the crazy entertainment on broadway; even up streets like Tenderloin were crimes are more serious. I had walked up and down the steep sidewalk hills and had gotten lost in the Golden Gate Park. I enjoyed all the street entertainment that I had got to see just from exploring the city on foot. There were bucket drummers, singers, actors and even comedians doing street performances without caring what anybody cared about them. This fascinated me and I wanted to explore more of this vast city. As I was just getting use to this city that was so good to me, my time with my school had ended and I was due back home to tend to family and friends that had depended on me. It was been a decade since then and she calls upon my name to show me how much she has changed and what she has to offer me for the future. Her tenderness and beautiful ocean smell still lives within my heart for one day we will meet again, because our journey is not done yet.
