In February 2021 I am walking across America. My journey will begin in Delaware and take me through my country's capital, the cornfields of the Midwest, the arid landscapes of Utah, down the forgotten highway, over the Sierra Mountains and finishing in California. Although this adventure will have many unknowns, there are some things I do know - I will overcome difficulties, meet many unique people along the way (some I will like and some I will not), get blisters, be hungry, be scared and find joy in the simplicity of putting one foot in front of the other. I also know I will be asked innumerable times two things - why are you doing this and am I scared as a woman on the road all alone. I am planning for my trip to take 8 months based on mileage estimates and the weather challenges of crossing two sets of mountain ranges. I have been saving for this trip for 4 years and will self-fund the entire adventure. I would like to learn how to document this adventure as it is happening to enable me to write the story when complete. There are parts I have begun drafting now - such as why I am doing it, some of the prep work I have been doing and my fears going into the adventure. I want to develop and fully document this perspective now, as when I look back I may not accurately remember what it was like to be here in the now. The opportunity to be mentored on writing would be immeasurable and would alter the direction of my writing and development. I appreciate your consideration.
