One Love Sweet sweet Jamaica The land of the indigenous people. My home away from home. One half of my heritage. As the plane touched down at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay myself alongside my 3 girlfriends clapped roared and cheered that we landed safely. Me and my friends squealed in delight, we had been planning this trip for months, and it was finally happening. The humidity hit me before my vans even touched the tarmac. Clearing security, getting my luggage, and finding my driver. I stood outside and quickly found myself captivated by the hustle and bustle of everyone around me, the smiling welcoming friendly faces, the palm trees so big, the blazing sun so big and bright, the grass was so luscious and green. I couldn’t help but smile as I could feel the rhythm of the island wash over me, and knew that I was exactly where I was supposed to be. I took a stroll around my hotel grounds, Jamaica Grande was pretty impressive. A tall dark and handsome stranger caught my eye, neither of us spoke a word. He had what looked like a tattoo of Bob Marley on his forearm with the caption ‘One Love’. I smiled and carried on with my walk Later that evening I rolled down the cruise ship pier of Jamaica north eastern shore to the welcoming Margaritaville in Ocho Rios. Drinks were flowing like one of Jamaica’s national treasures Dunns River Falls. Reggae music was thumping and I felt on top of the world. Appleton Estate rum was flowing through my veins. I felt so alive, so free, for a moment I totally forget my world had been turned upside down at home, and I was here to escape my harsh reality of my life falling apart back home and I felt like I wanted to cry. I went outside to get some fresh air. Suddenly I felt all the hair on my arms stand on end. It was such a strange feeling The tall dark handsome stranger emerged from a small group of people and made his way over to me. The closer he got to me, I realised he was the same groundsman I had seen earlier at the hotel. He smiled at me, and Bob Marley’s song ‘One love’ started to play. We both laughed. I knew this was exactly what I didn’t expect to find.
