The rain came down, the boat crew relinquish the rope that tied on a wood, ready to switch on the engine to go off. The movement of the waves as we leave bali island to nusa penida island, surrounded by foggy vast sea. Half an hour has passed, we arrived in nusa penida island. Stepped on the white sand to start my new journey in this island that still has pure nature surrounded by trees yet I can see houses in some part of the island, for instance places for a visitor to stay such as a homestay for a bagpacker, cottage for a traveller, treehouse for a couple, hotels for family trip and a resort with luxury and beach view. My sister and I decided to stay in a cottage with minumum budget, that was not far from the residential place. The owner of the cottage was friendly, he is a native resident of nusa penida. He said “ come have a seat ...“, we smiled and took a seat while drinking a nice hot tea. We talked about few things about our way to nusa penida, also we asked further information about the accommodation and travel destination in this island, he seemed to say ‘ many tourist came to this island for travel, vacation, or even just for staying in the hotel. People who live here for a long term, mostly came from bali and some of them came from java’. After awhile we had a nice conversation with the owner, we took some rest in the cottage till dinner time. It was january and the rain start to fall, fog loomed over the island like a spell. Behind the white curtain is a wide glass door, I can see through the outside where wind blows the trees to where it belongs to go. We waited for over an hour till it stopped, ride a motorbike to find the closest market and a restaurant. Darkness covered the island, all i can see a street lamps along the way, all i can hear the voice of the forest and a sound of the sea. We found a restaurant with a typical nusa penida dishes, ‘sate lilit ‘ known as satay lilit is my favorite typical dish in nusa penida, baked meat with nusa penida typical flavor, it has a sweet taste with crispy and savory flavors. While my sister would prefer new dishes called as ‘jukut – jukut’ a mixed red beans, corn, cassava and moringa leaves with a soupy texture, she seemed like it, with a unique taste when it start to touch the tongue. The next day has begun, a sunrise has its lights come through my glass door, we were ready for a trip to a hidden beach in the village of Bunga Mekar called as kelingking beach. Online navigates or google maps leads us to our destination through a winding road with a sea view on the right side and trees on the left side. A long trip has took us to a breath-taking view, at first, I was surprised because we have to go all the way down the cliff to be in kelingking beach, it was quite dangerous because we have to climb down the cliff, yet I have never climb before. Meanwhile, if i never tried, i would never know how it would be like down there. My curiosity defeat hesitation inside me, I have made my decision to go down the hill. Even tho, I saw many tourists just stop in the middle of their way down because they gave up, they seemed to say ‘ nah, let’s go back, its dangerous and too far away’. However, it didn’t stop me. I can see the whole view on the way down like the green grass hills, the vast sea, and the sun. It took us 30 minutes, I started to feel my feet touched the white sand, I started to hear the sound of the blue sea clearly, the sound of nature. I can enjoy one of the most breath-taking views over the hills and small strip of white sand from top of a hill of kelingking beach.
