Passion for the Punta Cana

A leap into the unknown Dominican Republic

Some stories are marked with details in our mind, in my case it was my first and only trip out of Brazil, it was an invitation from a man I knew about a month ago to go to Punta cana-Dominican Republic and how a trip to know the beautiful landscapes of the Caribbean is not denied, I embarked in search of adventure and knowledge. We boarded the flight to Panama on July 29, 2019, all very easily, as my travel partner had already gone 5 other times to Punta Cana. I remember my crisis of laughter when I arrived at the time of the photo at customs was a subject of concern for a long time, so outside the air conditioners of the airport I could feel that heat of 87.8 fahrenheit taking over my body wearing jeans, sneakers, sweatpants and blanket because of the cold of Rio Grande do Sul-Brazil on the day I boarded, it didn't take long to start taking off some clothes. Inside a van waiting for me, my head in the window took care of every detail of that wonderful city. When we arrived at the Mélia Caribe resort, a great reception, a light rain and a beer that went down like water, employees who attended us smiling and singing and at dinner nachos in a restaurant right in front of the pool, where we went almost every day. Since I don't know Spanish, ordering in restaurants, room number and asking for information was only in English. My room was far from the main restaurants like the one for breakfast so we waited at stops until a mini train or golf carts passed by for us to pick up. The food was varied, in the morning I was delighted with eggs, bacon and cakes. The first ride was the most striking, it was a buggy ride, where we could dive in a beautiful cave and then enjoy Macao beach, where we went again with a ride from a new friend to enjoy only the beach. But on the way back, our heart was already aching, seeing reality and the poverty of punta cana, children were running behind the carts, asking for help, I had already handed a bottle of water to a child who had begged, so we decided to give 10 notes of 1 dollar for one of them, choice for which brought me many tears, they gratefully paid in my hand, put many flowers on my head and ran after the cart. Day that we ended full of mud, history and gratitude. The nights in Punta Cana were very fun, the parties ended around 11 pm, which surprised us since in Brazil this is the time that the parties are starting, we watch theater, we learn to dance reggaeton but we also teach some friends dancing funk. We are used to a lot of excitement, so we went to the Casino where I met three American women, who I still follow on social media today, who are from the United States, exchanged ideas and invited them to go with me to the cocobongo the next day, but they refused the invitation for lack of money. I conclude that cocobongo is a presentation, not at all like the parties I'm used to going to, so she disappointed me a little. In addition to the buggy ride, cocobongo did two more rides, one was saona island, a place that yielded beautiful photos, and juannilo beach, where we went to natural pools and met my favorite place in the world: the blue eye, I jumped there 6 times in a row, a sensation I remember very well, I closed my nose with one hand, I was anxious before jumping and then a shock of cold water and happiness for being there. The return to Brazil was sad, because I wanted to stay there forever but the memories will stay in my mind, the fear of the plane on the way, the sunburn I took on the first day, the employees always happy, each person I met, the strawberry caipirinha and the smile that took over my face every time I visited a new place.
