I didn't expect to find Indonesia

As a student majoring in landscape, I often conduct field lectures in various locations, such as botanical gardens, parks and cultural attractions, where we can learn the character of the cultural landscape that is very different from the modern landscape that we can see in urban areas. At that time I sat in semester 2 and attended a field lecture to the Baduy Village, located in Banten, West Java, Indonesia. We traveled by mini bus for about 3 hours from Bogor to Baduy Village. Upon arrival at Baduy Village, we were welcomed by one of the indigenous Baduy people. Previously I want to explain in advance about the Baduy tribe. The Baduy are divided into two groups, namely the outer Baduy and the inner Baduy. Inner Baduy are the original Baduy tribe who still uphold their customs, such as not using modern equipment for daily life, while the Outer Baduy are more open to change, for example already using mobile phones and wearing jeans. The Inner Baduy live in a region further inland than the Outer Baduy. So, just imagine a sunflower! The flower petals are the Outer Baduy, while the core is the Inner Baduy. Upon arrival at Baduy Village, we will enter the Outer Baduy Village first. In this village, we can see the scenery of the village which is quite natural, but it is quite modern because there is already electricity, mobile phones, and may use the shampoo or soap that we normally use. If you want to take pictures, you have to take as many pictures as you like here, because when you enter the Inner Baduy Village, you are prohibited from using a cellphone, and even the signal disappears immediately. The scenery in the Inner Baduy Village is very different from the Outer Baduy. The atmosphere feels cooler and the air feels very clean. This is because this village is free of motorized vehicles, unlike the village of Outer Baduy which already permits the use of motorized vehicles. When we are in Inner Baduy, it will feel like being in another world, a world that is very different from the surroundings. Even if you want to take a bath in Inner Baduy, you will not find a bathroom, because the villagers only use the river water to clean themselves. You are also not allowed to use shampoo or soap because it has chemical contents. Life in the Inner Baduy village is indeed very traditional, however their lifestyle makes their environment very clean and far from pollution. If we go to Baduy village, we can not only see traditional Baduy houses, traditional clothes that are used every day, or natural scenery, but we can learn how important it is to live in balance with nature and feel the pleasure of life by paying attention to the environment. Oxygen or clean air is difficult to obtain in urban areas which are only 14 km from the Inner Baduy village, but inside the village all that oxygen can be felt every day for free. Who would have thought there was such a village in the midst of the hustle and bustle of urban life.
