A leap into the unknown Cuba

Getting on an airplane having no idea what the next steps, smells, sounds and tastes will be. Courageously waiting on the airplane with a million thoughts running through my head, every minute turned into hours. Finally, I arrive at my destination, it smells nothing like I imagined but I'm enjoying it. I check my bag out in the unfamiliar process, this is not what I'm used to. I push forward and keep my mind open, it's getting a little complicated because this is change, although I adapt quickly, I'm still getting the hang of it. I then step outside, the sun is beaming in my face, the taxis are flying by, pedestrians walking around enjoying their day. Across the street, there is a fruit market with bargainers and shoppers and I begin to look around. I'm not familiar with this fruit. The next stand they are frying some things, I buy a couple of pieces to taste it. One was awful and the other was a strange texture but very tasty. I buy a couple more things, wave over a taxi and head to where I am staying for the week. Throughout the week, I've tried local breweries, foods, and entertainment. I spoke to some locals and asked them about their way of life and what they like to do. I try some of these things, in the process, I've learned a traditional dance. Whilst learning this dance a beautiful man takes out a little more time than the rest to teach me. Instantly, there is a connection, in the next couple of days he becomes a personal tour guide and I learn more of the ways people live here. It's my final day, I have to go back home, I've learned so much and I can't wait to write about it. Although I'm excited to leave there is an ache in my heart to stay. I can learn more if I stay but I know I have to go. Before I leave for my flight home I say goodbye to everyone I've build a connection with, the man and I exchange information to keep in touch. I get on the plane and before I close my eyes to rest I realize I am a changed person and that there will be more adventures like this but never the same.
