Making a local connection Dominican Republic

It all started 6 years ago when I wanted to go to an island I have never been before. I remember sitting on the couch searching online for great locations. I stumbled upon punta cana dominican Republic. Right off the back it caught my attention. The next day I booked a 6 day trip for me and hubby anniversary. I remember sitting on the plane anticipating all of what I might experience, the beaches, beautiful weather ect.. The moment the plain landed and they opened the doors a big goosh of warm air rushedin the plane. As I walked off the plane we didn't walk into a building instead it was outside with covered bamboo and fans, I heard the sounds of carribean music and drums. They offerred us sweet cold drinks. As I was moving back and forth dancing to the sounds at that very moment I knew this would be my second home. The resorts was beautiful and although the resort food was not great the culture and beauty out weighed everything. We did all the escursions we could do but I wanted to make sure I get out and experience the actual culture. We got a driver to drive us wherever we wanted to go for the whole day. We ended up driving 2 hours out and stopped at a beautiful cave and walked inside. Being inside that cave was so captivating. We stopped at one of the worlds most beautiful beaches called macao beach so blue and serene. We had many conversations with the locals . when you fast forward to 2020 and we visited dominican a total of 5 times already. The love of the island culture the pure happinesseven though they may not have much is absolutely priceless.
