Feet hitting pavement lost in an alien city about to go on the next journey. Legs avhed as I mafe my way to the bus station and slid my card to the clerk and i got a bus ticket to Spokane. Overnight people were clamoring outside in the city and the sound of gunshots and sirens filled the atmosphere. In the early dawn the bus approached and I got on leaping into the unknown. I sat by strangers eating chips and watching them drink liqour smuggled out of their bag. Different city skylines could be seen in the distance in the dark night. Cigarette smoke wafting on with passengers. Finally the cities turned to flat plains and rolling mountains. The colors intense. The aor smelling different and sky wider. The rovers and lakes. The dust and barren trees. Finally ending up in Montana and Idaho. Standing in the middle of nowhere watching another hot bus roll up. To make it to Idaho after stopping at gas stations with overpriced cheesy tshirts. Then the moment came where Spokane came into view. My palms sweating on the bus seat as I fiddled with my jacket. The forest fires smoking in the distance. Getting off the bus the air was thick with the scent of ash and burned wood.the bhshes filled with berries, and trees vibrant with thick needles and leaves. The hills inclining and graffiti covered walls. People walking by smiling and laughing. After walking around I made it to a house that was open to new people in the area to stay at if needed. Walking in the room i sat my bag down and went over to the windpw with the purple curtain. I put my hand on it and pulled it back. Looking out at the vantage point, I was on top of the cityand looking below. I cpuld see the far off mountains and the highways curling. The distant smoke tendrils curling up into the clouds, like a distant cigarette being smoked by the earth. Spokane, moss covered pathways and beatif cracked sidewalks. Hidden away bars spewing people out into the night and early dawns with bright sunlight. Humid nights filled the sound of nighttime animals sneaking by. If you come here you may find yourself feeling at home, and in the way you do might be a surprise.
