Dear Diary, Keep it short and sweet. As The Weeknd said ‘from homeless to Forbes list’ I was homeless and wish I was on the Forbes list. Addiction took my life away, took my morals, my dignity, my friends, my family, my license and took me to police cells. Until I found recovery, 399 days ago. 399 days with me alcohol and drugs and cigarettes. 399 til I found a spiritual programme with doesn’t only help me but helps others. Within the last 399 I speak out to others struggling and within the last 399 have become a House Manager at a residential rehab. 399 since as well as full time job, 50 hours minimum a week, I also do voluntary work. I’m 23. As much as this is a life beyond my wildest dreams. I’m still unable to have my family relationships back, I still have other relationships to build, I still am unable to buy a car, I am still unable to pay my debts, but haven’t been abroad or had a break for over 3 years. Night, Ria Bird
