Ever been a bike rider? What i mean to say is have you been to distant places on you bike with just yourself? If yes then this story would interest you. Over a 1000 kms to reach Rakasthan. final check for all that i needed, the clothes, warm ones as well, toothbrush, med-kit, tent, sleeping bag, hydration bag, all checked and packed now time to load up. I slept early at 6pm that day. I woke up at 11.45pm by a dream that got me in a deep thought, i woke up asking myself, "why do i need to do this ride? what am i going there for?" I couldnot answer it but i quickly took a shower put on my clothes and the leg gaurd and body armor. bags were loaded since last evening all set to leave and there at 1.30am i start my ride to the expect the unexpected. The roads felt so welcoming, cool breeze stary skies, the moon that kept following me, but the question kept lingering in me what did i want from this ride. I reached Patan at 11 am so I halted for few hours at a local guest house. visited the local sightseeing areas around. I still didnt not find my peace nor the answer to my question. It was evening about 4pm when i started for Jaisalmer, riding through the beautiful lanscpaes and through the deserts i reach Jaisalmer and it was 2.30am. I had to look around for hotel to stay, it was so cold the temperatures were at 9 or 10 degrees. A beautiful landscape filled ride through the desert roads i reached the post of Longewala. There were other bikers that had come there, I was stopped at the checkpost, they asked me to get off also produce Indian citizenship. I was asked alot of questions as the i was alone and vehicle from Maharashtra, i was happy to answer and they were happy to hear it out. One of them asked me to park my bike in the shade of the tree and come to sit with them for a little while. We spoke for sometime, soldier Ranvijay asked me if i didnt want to see the museum? i quickly said a yes and sprung to my feet he asked me to accompany him. The instruments and artillery used and the ammunitions and the story that was printed on the walls of the museum was something that filled me completely. We sat near one of those bunkers that were made by then the regiment that stood there to fight the Pakistani army that marched to Jaisalmer to conquer it. We got back as quickly as we could, was feeling so low, thats when Ranvijay came up to me and asked so do you want to know the story of the war that happened here at this post in 1971 also how the 120 jawans stood guard against 2000 plus Pakistani army marching with tanks to aquire Rajasthan. I had to listen to this, he spoke about how the patrol team found the hidden marching how they fought bravely without even a drop of water as the well was poisioned by the Pakistanis to kill the Indian soldiers. I thanked him, took 12 autographs of my true heros that stand guard everyday away from habbitation, with no regrets nor any wishes to riches. I left for the hotel, 23 years of service to the Indian army, seen many heart breaking things, yet so gentle and humble, filled with friendship, care, brotherhood, poems, qoutes, and alot more a human. I could not go any further as this is what i was looking for a purpose. I think i got one... Salute to the Indian Army, His words before I left: "Bhagwa safed haraa, Jeevan chakra bela, bharatiya jana, bharatiya hi chala, karam sadev dharti maa, ismi palaa ismi mein mara... Bhagwa Safed Hara, jeewan sadev Dharti maa.... Jai Hind."
