Two feet, one adventure, three miles to go and one heart racing. Our portal to the other world is leaving in t-minus 11 minutes. Our motor vehicle runs on two wheels and one motor, as fast as the limits in our mind wandered. We travel at the speed of light when the constraints of the outside world endorse we ride a 65. Time is ticking, miles to go and the fear of missing out is upon us. The last train to Kashmir will leave us behind with no promise of a return. The mountains await us and the rivers call to us with a roar. Street food stalls mock us with their potential of filling our hearts and bellies with sustenance that could not compare to any other. The train station was our aim but the traffic became our partition. Forget us not we hollered, so close we are, let us not be left behind we prayed. A twin-cylinder engine running as fast as it’s legs could go, we expected much from it. We were coming up on our last mile to the station, patiently I waited as the passenger, but the anxiety ridden mind could not be hushed. My mind ran a mile a minute and was hoping that teleportation would be invented by me at that exact moment, yes that is how crazy my thoughts became. The train station comes in sight and our blood pumps fast with a sudden spike of hope. Adrenaline is pumping, the two-legged motor vehicle stops and my feet are ready to hit the ground. I take off the helmet, pull on the backpack onto my broad shoulders, pay the motorist and run with a vigor unknown to even me. I push through the crowd, jump over the variety of luggage on the floor, dashing in and through. Down the stairs with as much speed and caution as I can offer. Landing face first was not on my itinerary. The terminal call time is being announced and departure is coming up sooner than I expected. This way, that way, duck and speed up, surprised I was to the agility that my human body offered. Platform reached and into the two doors I entered, breath was finally offered to my body. I danced with such joy, both mentally and physically, a victory hoorah. The window seat is where I placed my exhausted body, wipe of the beads of sweat with such appreciation. I reached for my water bottle and sipped as though I never have. To my body I was grateful and to the world I raised a toast for giving me this opportunity. A journey I will never forget, and one I was ready to embark upon. Leap into the unknown will I.
