I didn't expect to find India

When life gets too tough, one must travel. For in travel, you shall find your peace. My trip to Kasol, in India, was a rather spontaneous one to get away from my monotonous life and find some peace. The trip started on quite an upsetting note when my friends and I missed our bus and lost some luggage but that didn't stop us from giving up on this much needed mini vacation. Despite all our struggles, we continued to stay positive because we knew that this is what we needed at the moment and no setback should stop us from getting it. The journey from Delhi to Kasol was a rather bumpy and tiring one and left us feeling exhausted since we had been unable to sleep for two days. Nonetheless, we continued with a smile on our faces, waiting for our miracle. On reaching our destination, the people, the places, the weather, the view, everything made the journey feel worth the struggle. Kasol is also known as Mini Israel and is famous for authentic Israeli food. It is a dream for all hippies and nomads which is also why it struck a chord in my heart. Everything about it felt like home. Being only 19 years old, this was my first solo trip with my friends and so I was too excited to even sleep for days at a stretch. I am not a people person. I keep my distance from everyone and appreciate my space a little too much but surprisingly, my favorite thing about Kasol wasn't the weather or the food or the view but the people. They were so kind to us that it felt like we had known them for our entire lives. All my life I have looked for a reason, a little ray of hope to tell me that even though I am different, I am not wrong. That, I found in this city. I met people who had given up their 9-5 jobs to travel and live away from the expectations of what society calls a "successful" life. They had decided to chase their happiness and not money. I made a lot of friends and learned so much about life that even school or college couldn't teach me. It's true, traveling is the best education one can get. I was happy. To get to be among people who thought like me and didn't give in to the expectations of this money-chasing society. To come back from a place like that to your regular life could be so hard, you would never know once you've been there. All I want from life is to be happy and be surrounded by people who feel the same about life and for me, Kasol was that dream come true, even if for a short span of time. I wish to find more of this happiness in whatever I do in life and I know, for me, traveling is the only way to get there.
