I have always wanted to see The symbol of eternal love Taj Mahal, when I received a busines trip invitation in Hyderabad I started to plan my personal getaway, I planned to arrive two days ahead of my meeting where I landed at New Delhi airport as they don’t have direct travel to Agra to avoid pollution near preserved attractions, I have already booked a cap to take me across Delhi and all the way to Agra where I booked my first night, after a successful landing I was surprised that my driver isn’t answering and not present at the meet and greet line, going back and forth the airport services approached me for help and seems that it’s a known scam that drivers don’t pickup international numbers and leave the pickup location after 15 minutes, the airport service agents took it as a matter of defending the Indian reputation contacted the driver (lots of shaming expressions where obvious) out of a sudden the driver appeared and started my trip to Agra in a lovely but long road trip, didn’t imagine that the world most famous Taj Mahal falls in that place surrounded by slums but I decided to enjoy the trip but at this moment I knew I needed a guide so I booked a car, sightseeing tickets online and a tour guide for a sunrise visit, arrived a bit after dawn but the lines were already filled waited for around 10 minutes then the guide managed to get me in, the beauty and the story behind it compensated the long journey after three hours it was already too early so I took of to Agra fort and got back to the hotel for breakfast and check-out, I probably regretted that I mentioned that I wanted to tip the bellboy as at this moment everyone was like tip tip tip but I managed it, however the driver got oppressed with taking me to every ATM to get cash hoping I would tip him from local market to slums but I made it after a very long trip to Rajasthan and Jaipur, I was probably overwhelmed by my plan so I booked another driver and a tour guide later realized that it wasn’t needed as most of the sites offers its own guiding services so I requested a refund and got it for this one after a dozen of temples and forts in two days I took a flight from Jaipur to Hyderabad and started a new journey in this new city that included lots of meetings and shopping, india has more of a famous location so I would say that the challenge I faced won’t stop me from going back but next trips will include better planning now I got the Indian experience and some local contacts to help.
