My son and I did not expect to find so many snakes in the canyon while walking at sunset and sunrise up to the waterfall! We found one on a large stone slab that looked about the size and shape of a casket. We peered at it atop of a rock a distance from serpant. It was the baby red and brown snake with the tiny fish half swallowed the most beautiful encounter. They take much time to digest! The next day my son encouraged me to walk away from the little grey snake slithering towards me. After our visit to the Nature Center I was glad he did! It was a baby suffocation snake that if slithered anycloser in its reared form could have strangled my hand or arm! We survived a full hike up the gorge peering into holes and seeing about ten different poisonous red and brown snakes in different locations. We survived barefoot all the way to the beautiful steeper rock face of a shallow waterfall and climbed to the top for a beautiful view. Our snake experience at Mc Cormicks creek was filled with spine tingling moments that last a lifetime of memories! Fortunately we are safe after our brave barefooted journey! Always check into the Nature Center so one can be aware of the surrounding wildlife.
