In Sagres, Portugal there's a yoga studio, smoothie bowl and laundromat my husband and I didn't expect to find. We asked at the hotel where we could do laundry and the front desk recommended what became our favorite part of our trip to Portugal. Yoga is done on the roof and there's dinners a few nights a week including sushi. There smoothie bowls where heavenly and reminded me of the Northshore of Maui where the locals go for coffee and conversation. Sagres has a lovely breeze from the Atlantic as it sits on the Southwest tip of Portugal. The town of Sagres has a small harbor where you can see the hot local attraction, wild dolphins and sea life. You simply walk through town down to the harbor where they're located. They have morning and afternoon trips and there's a on going effort to conserve this precious local resource. I think what I didn't expect on our trip was how adorable the town was and the friendly, fun atmosphere of the local smoothie bowl, yoga studio, laundromat. The owners where wonderful and there was people from all over the world that came to it everyday. There was free yoga on the roof everyday they where open and the owners take really good care of everyone that came in either for a smoothie bowl or a cup of coffee. Sagres has a upscale taco restaurant located on the outskirts of town where in August the hot tip is to get there early for dinner think 5pm not 7pm. By 7pm you'll have to wait for a table and the local surfer culture comes in and has reservations so best is to get there early! Sagres has the soul of Maui but on the other end of the globe. On days when the weather is at worst I am reminded of the blue skies and warm breeze of Portugal.
