New Orleans is one of the United States’ Oldest cities. Rich with history, the city is beautiful. Upon arrival, I found myself wandering around the French quarter. On every other block was a band of some sort playing jazz or zydeco, which is a testament to its rich musical history. It is there between local treats such as voodoo shops and cafes that I happened upon a local zydeco band. After their set, the lead man was gracious enough to take a picture with me. Republic Nola The bar scene is colorful and full of friendly southern hospitality from the bartenders to the wait staff. I took in a concert during the NBA All Star Weekend where rapper 2Chainz was one of the performers at a local night spot called Republic Nola. The atmosphere was alive with hip-hop beats from billboard’s top 20s. One could catch a glimpse of a celebrity in the VIP. I caught Allen Iverson. Bar Scene I met a native gentleman who was kind enough to show me around town. After a brief crawfish boil at a restaurant, New Orleans has restaurants a plenty with such, we made it over to the world famous Café du Monde. Café Du Monde At Café du Monde’s we chatted about the local scene from Kenner to the French quarter. It was crowded yet the efficiency of the place is stuffs of legend. I tried the famous beignets along with café au lait. From the look of the crowd I expected a long wait. However, I got through the line in little to no time. The servers were surprisingly attentive as well. New Orleans is a hub of southern charm and history, from the people to the places, never a dull moment.
