In March 2018, on my first trip to the State of Paraíba, I arrived in the city of João Pessoa on a sunny Saturday morning, in order to enjoy the beautiful beaches of the region (they are very famous). But at the invitation of the owner of the Hostel where I stayed, I went to visit the historic city center. In fact, the beaches are wonderful, but I didn't expect a historic center as rich and colorful as Frederikstad's (old city name given by the Dutch at the time they occupied northeastern Brazil). The area known as the historic center is located in the neighborhoods (Centro and Varadouro), is full of colorful colonial houses and churches in the style of Baroque architecture, in addition we can find squares and famous hotels in the art-noveau and art-deco style. After a day full of incredible experiences, we ended the tour in the garden of Hotel Globo, an old hotel that is currently considered a Cultural Center and has one of the best views in the city, being possible to enjoy a beautiful sunset from its gardens. Undoubtedly it was one of the national trips that surprised me the most, because in addition to the beautiful beaches, the coastal cities of the northeast region of the country have an interesting historical tourism.
