Of course we all know about the natural beauty of Thailand, its islands, white sand and crystal clear waters, which is what we talk about. Archaic cities with their temples that dazzle the one who sees them. When we decided to travel with a group of friends to that incredible destination we did it based on what we had seen and heard, always related to landscapes and everything we could do. It's a real paradise on earth. What nobody told us or read about Thailand is its people, that human quality they have, the love they radiate with a simple smile. look or when they ask you where you come from ... I think what makes Thailand as beautiful as it is, it's thanks to its people, who is always trying to sell you something, haggling a price, interacting even the language. It's really amazing how native people, despite their adversities, since you can see a lot of poverty, it can make you feel so good. People were the best of the trip, people who do the impossible to live or survive but who do not lose the joy, hope, faith, that despite not having the comforts that many see as normal, daily, nothing extravagant, things we take for granted sitting without realizing that for other people they are luxuries... they have that something in the look that is impossible to describe... a single look makes you feel welcome, beloved, like you came to the place where you had to be at the right time. For a month I had the blessing of being surrounded by those people, simple, charismatic but at the same time they know what respect for others really is. They let me be one of them. A year ago I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma and I thought that my world was collapsing, it's not easy to find out that you have cancer with only 33 years. At first, all I can think about was everything I was going to lose, having to be in treatment for a long period of time, uncertainty about the unknown, not knowing how things were going to turn out. I am lucky to be fully cured, with no more treatments to do, only with the opportunity to continue discovering the world and its essence. The experience I had in Thailand with people who despite their adversities always have that mischievous smile, that desire to make you feel good, that you realize you are really alive and that you enjoy your life was one of my pillars to get ahead, realizing that these people are like that because they understand the real meaning of life, which is to be happy, with what we have or don't, without questioning, with a push always forward, wrapping up in their millenary culture, their religion and customs that remain as firm as if time does not pass. Meeting such people, who do not depend on how many likes a photo can have, who do not intend to fit into stereotypes or labels set by society, people with whom you share a meal made at the moment and who is not watching TV or the screen of the cell phone, people who are really there, present, talking, telling you about their family or what you can not miss about their country, that gets sad when you go where you were for a couple of days, inviting you to come back, as if we were friends lifelong. It was not until I had to live a difficult personal situation that I realized how rich these people are, how much love they have inside them and how much we should learn from them, look again in the eyes, smile, greet or whatever it is to make someone feel good that we may not know and probably will not see again, but it is what can change the day to the other, you never know what the other may be feeling. That's life... be happy and convey the best of each other, regardless of the circumstances. They teach me about humanity and happiness, something to put every day in practice.
